Notes, schedules, indeed recording takes are ways to manage and store information. While it is customary to keep specific notes during filming, studio recordings, etc, there are other methods we can adopt to assist every project and the overall development of best systems/practices.

Making use of photography, for examples, to keep a visual diary of a project aids in the completion of an EPK (Electronic Press Kit), CD/DVD artwork and even for reviewing methods in place. Such as, the use of photos taken to show microphone placement, set dressing or make up continuity (repeatability being another aim here).

It might require planning (i.e. booking a photographer), but a visual record also presents a great opportunity to review and learn.
